REACT RIGHT This is practical training designed to give you the knowledge and confidence to act as a first responder in a medical emergency.
You will learn to assess a person’s condition, call the emergency services correctly, administer first aid and perform CPR.
You’ll also practise using a automated external defibrillator —AED— and the administration of emergency oxygen, skills that are particularly relevant in the context of diving.
By the end, you’ll be much better prepared for stay calm, make decisions and provide assistance until the emergency services arrive.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to have a diving certificate?
No. SSI does not require any prior certification to take the React Right course.
What is the minimum age required?
The minimum age set by SSI is 12 years.
How long does the course last?
The approximate total duration is between 8 and 12 hours. SSI allocates approximately five hours to First Aid and CPR, one hour to AED and two hours to oxygen administration.
Are there any diving sessions?
No, it is an academic and practical surface-based training, with no open water sessions.
What will I learn?
You will learn initial assessment, first aid, CPR, stabilisation techniques, use of an AED and emergency oxygen administration.
How long does the certification last?
The React Right certification is valid for two years from the date of issue. After that, you should complete the relevant refresher training.
Is it suitable for Stress & Rescue?
Yes. React Right can be used to meet the first aid requirement for SSI Diver Stress & Rescue and SSI Professional programmes.
