Navigation Course
The Navigation course will teach you to orient yourself underwater with greater precision and confidence.
You will learn how to use a compass, recognise natural references, and combine different techniques to plan and follow underwater routes safely.
It is an essential specialty for ceasing complete dependence on a guide and becoming a more autonomous and environmentally aware diver.

Navigation It is the specialism that helps you understand where you are, where you are going, and how to return safely during a dive.
You will learn to To correctly use a compass, maintain a bearing, perform navigation patterns and estimate distances underwater.
You will also work the Natural navigation, using references such as the shape of the background, depth, direction of light, swell, and other environmental elements.
Upon completion, you will be a diver safer, autonomous and efficient, allowing for better dive planning and reducing the risk of disorientation.

Frequently Asked Questions
What level do I need?
You must hold an Open Water Diver certification or an equivalent recognised certification. The official SSI page states Open Water Diver as a program requirement.
How long does the course last?
The estimated duration is between 5 and 10 hours, depending on the organisation, the student's pace, and the dive conditions.
How many dives are made?
The programme includes two open water training dives.
What is the minimum age required?
SSI sets a minimum age of 10 years.
What depth is it performed at?
The maximum training depth indicated by SSI is 30 metres, always respecting the limits of the student's certification, age, experience and conditions.
